Wiring Woes

'87 IROC, going through electrical system. All gauges work but tach and oil pressure, and all lights work but front turn signals, front side markers, dash lights. All fuses and relays check out ok. Oh, and those front turn signals, the parking lights work, but do not flash while rear do. One more thing, when turn on high beams, the low beams go out. smh

Re: Wiring Woes

tach and oil get their readings straight from the sensors (back of intake and distributor). have you checked to see that the wiring to them is solid? harness goes to C100 on the driver side firewall

At the back of the dash on one of the two connectors you will see a tan wire.

Disconnect it, turn the key to RUN, and observe the OP gage.

What did it do?

Re: Dash Distress

Forgive my ignorance, but disconnect the wire? I don't follow you. Do you mean pull the tan wire from the connector, or leave the connector unplugged from the gauge cluster? smh

You just want to disconnect that one wire.

Most likely the fastest way will be to cut the wire in an area you will be able to get your hands into, to splice it once the diagnosis is made.
