I recently purchased a 92 firebird that wont start every time. Sometimes when you turn the key, there is nothing. The funny part is that the A/C compressor kicks in and out as you try to start (does it do this while starting?) AND if you turn ign. on, turn on the A/C controls, the cooling fan comes on. Turn a/c off and cooling fan shuts off. A/C compressor kicks on and off even if controls are shut off.
After you try turning key 2 or 3 times, wait about 10-15 min, car will start right up. once you get it started, it will always restart. But if it sits for hours, it wont.

 

the ac compressor clutch is kicking on? when u turn the key thats wierd
the fans turning on is normal tho they turn on to pull air across the condensor so the ac will work.
and if u turn the key a couple times it does nothing but after a couple more it will turn over?

 

so I fig out that the fan comes on anytime the compressor is on. But now Im wondering why the compressor clutch kicks on and off when controls are off.
as far as the car starting, I took it to our mechanic. Im not much for electrical work...It is too much like plumbing.
