Gta digital dash swap

Would a gta digital dash work in a 89 formula?

Re: Gta digital dash swap

A digital dash from a 1987-88 T/A, GTA would physically fit an 89 Formula 350 (since I already accomplished this). However.......it is NOT a simple cluster swap. You would need an entire digital dash assembly (frame, wiring etc...) out of an 87-88 Digital Dash car to start with since the wiring for digital is different than the analog. I ended up stripping the old DD assembly of all its specific wiring, parts and piggy backed it onto my analog dash system. This way, if I wanted to swap back to my analog cluster for any reason, I could just fish out my analog connector from the back of the dash and now, its plug and play. Mind you, this took a lot of research to do this conversion this way (using 1987 and 1989 Firebird shop manuals, an electrical background and Patience, so it is not for the faint of heart).

Re: Gta digital dash swap

so. how crazy would it be to want to swap an gta digi dash into an 84 camaro, and i already think i'll have to swap the whole harness and dash and cluster and all, or if i were planning to swap to power windows and locks could i swap the whole cabin harness from the firewall back out of an 87-88 gta, also i do plan on swapping the car to a tpi engine, also i know how insane this sounds

Re: Gta digital dash swap

IMHO, having a GTA with a factory digital dash myself and reading numerous posts of what other do to install one, I would say either stick with what you have or get another car with what you want.
