Battery/altanator cables very confused

Ok so the wires on the positive side are in bad shape and i went to the auto store today but the wire they said was a replacement doesn't look right at all now i dont know if the previous owner hacked **** all up and made his own deal or what. but i've looked on oreillys and cant come up with anything that looks like that at all

that replacement looks pretty close to what is on my '82
except mine(possibly original)had a plastic covering
molded around the battery terminal.

How does it all connect? cause the one in there has four wires running from it one that connects to the post, one that runs to the altanator, and two that run to that black connector...thats where im getting confused...and that second wire on the battery terminal the black one is the one that runs to the starter

sounds like yours is modified from stock-normally the
alternator output wire connects with the battery cable at
the starter batt cable stud,the small wire coming off the
replacement cable is too small to handle alternator
current-you will have to connect that to starter stud or
come up with some other arrangement that can safely
handle the current without getting hot.
