things that dont work
Ok I rebuilt my 92 rs 305 engine. Now that I have the engine back in the car the speedo and cooling fan do not work. The a/c cycles alot. The cooling I put a new switch at the rear of the right head and a new connector. If you ground the wire the fan runs.Plug in it does not. Speedo I have no idea.It did work before the engine work. Could this be a ground problem?

The cooling is more important so well address this first.
The reason the compressor is excessively cycling is due to the fact the fan is not working.
Use an ohmmeter to make sure your new fan switch is grounded to the block.
If it is you can remove it then test it by heating it in oil to find out whet temperature it closes.

The fan runs when the A/C is on. The switch that turns the fan on for the cooling is new, and is grounded at the block. I installed a new connector for the switch. If you ground the connector the fan runs. If you check the switch when running temp the switch is grounded. If you connect the switch to the connector it will not run when at running temps. Cecked the switch wich close at 190 temp. Thermo gun at themo stat showed 192.3 at the time of closing.

OK obviously the new connector is not making contact.
You can try bending the contact in the connector so it will make contact.
OR
Silver paste can be placed in the connector to help it make contact.

I have been reading more post. Just due to the fact the engine was out, I am going to check the grounds in the ECM connectors. If I have good grounds then I will proceed on a diff track. Nina you have been alot of help,Thanks. I will try the paste in the connector. Will let you know.

Does anyone have a pinout diagram of the ECM in a 92 rs with 305 TBI ? ECM # 88999158.
