I was going to add power mirrors to my car and this is weird!!!

My driver side mirror is manual with the joystick and my passenger side mirror wouldn't move so i was like oh that's not right and i looked and it had a motor in it. Both mirrors are original. is this normal?

Let me guess. You haven't owned the car since 1991.

No, the mirrors are not both original. The housings might be, however.

No i haven't This is my first Camaro(but I'm not a noob. my brother has had like 15 of these and my family's been in the car Business since the early 70s). there are no wires coming from the passenger mirror, whats up with that? if it was changed to a power mirror wouldn't it have wires? I have my door panels off and the the plastic is still over the door on the original paint, like it's never been apart? just looking for a simple answer. Thanks

Someone got lazy and "fixed it" with what was handy if it has a power mirror motor and wiring wasn't fed into the door.

Ok Thanks. My dad can get the wiring harness from GM for cheap and he's also getting me the harness for the Fog lights so it should be no big thing

I just looked up a bit of information on the metri-pack 150 series terminals for those power mirror connectors if you strike out at the dealer or junkyard.

There were two styles of power motor used. The early motors have a screw that attached the mirror to the motor, later ones have a cross-shaped piece that snaps onto the back of the plastic mirror backing plate. To remove the mirror glass on the older style you have to break the glass to remove the screw. On the later style you power the mirror to the extreme position (down) then you can pop off the cross-shaped piece from the mirror backing. Use a piece of newspaper or cardboard over the glass to press the mirror backing onto the cross-shaped piece. It should snap in if you have it aligned right. The newspaper or cardboard is to help equalize your pressure across the mirror glass and protect you from being cut in case the mirror breaks.
