What's the best way to wire a voltmeter
I've read a couple posts where it was recommended that an aftermarket voltmeter is more accurate if wired directly to the battery....is this true?
I am also going to wire the gauge lights to the INST LP fuse under the dash.....will there be a problem if I daisy chain 3 leads into this block for the 3 gauges? thanks

Ive always spliced to the main power wire at the column, its direct to the battery anyway so there's no sense in going all the way to the battery and the instrument lamp fuse probably shouldn't have an extra load on it. If you want a constant hookup then use the Orange wire, if you want an accessory hookup then use the pink wire they're located on the upper side of the column and they're fairly big, use a meter to confirm you have the proper wire before splicing in though. A lot of people tag the smaller ones which is totally wrong so dont do that

Are you talking about this group of wires? I see the big red, pink and orange wires that run up to the colunm.....I know to stay away from the yellow(airbag)......one of the previous owners had a kill switch installed so I'm assuming they tapped into the red wire already somewhere in there. I guess I'd tap the accessory wire but then I would have to wire a switch wouldn't I?

I can't pull up that picture on my phone, use a multi meter to probe the wires and check for voltage that's the only way to positively I'D the wire if you want your battery voltage to show at all times then tap your wire that has 12v with the key off, its either Orange or red. You won't need o wire a switch in because that's kinda pointless. If you want your gauge to show your battery voltage when the key is turned on then meter the pink wire, it should have 12v with the key on and 0 when the key is off
And you have an alarm in there. With a starter kill wire. Yellow is the wire for he starter not the air bag, your airbag wire may be yellow but its not going to be that large of a gauge wire

okay thanks.....the switch I was referring to would be for the gauge lights not for the meter itself

Oh for the lights you can wire them to the pink wire but it will turn on with the key or you can wire into the headlights so it turns on when you turn on the head lamps, you might be able to wire it to the instrument lamp wire but idk how that'd go, I tapped mine into the brown wire coming off the headlight switch which controls the parking lights
