Fusable link question

Would running the fusable link wire directly into the positive battery cable instead of the starter solenoid hurt anything?

I ask because the bolt to unhook all the wires from the starter solenoid is so rusted that the wires turn with the bolt, making it impossible for me to remove it with just a car jack to lift the car.

The end of the wire on the solenoid side is very old and brittle ( This being the 2nd time it has broke ) and there isn't enough of it left for me to even splice the fusable side back to the wire.

I attached a Illustration to try and make things a little more clear.

Re: Fusable link question

You could do this, as long as the fusible link is connected to batt + it doesn't really matter how. But - why not just put a new eye terminal on 'replacement wire I used', and discard 'old burnt wire' completely?

Btw if the start solenoid terminal is rusty and the batt cable connection is dodgy, you're not far away from starting problems.

Re: Fusable link question

The terminal itself are fine, the bolt itself is rusted. Went ahead with the plan to just bypass the starter and run directly to the battery.

Car still starts on the first flick of the key
