Re: 86 GMC Sierra Door lock problem
no doubt, no relay in the door lock system.
Re: 86 GMC Sierra Door lock problem
Thanks fellows! I didn't believe there was as well but couldn't prove it. LMC truck wants 100.00 for one in their catalog. Auto zone wants to sell me one for 20.00 and Advance Auto sez it's above the gas pedal.
I personally think it is of the old system where the polarity of the 12volts from the battery is reversed by the door panel switch to excite the actuators to either the up or down position.
Here's my problem:
I know the drivers side switch activates both doors. I have voltage at that switch. The switch is mechanically good. (I metered it out) __However, nothing happens when tried. No clicks. No nothing. All this led me to believe there was a relay in the system. __I mean how could it be that both door actuators would bomb out at the same time? I am puzzled. To add heartache to injury, I can't find a wiring diagram__even in my Chilton manual, that shows everything but the door lock circuitry.
I have run out of ideas except to trace the wiring from the switch the hard way__tear things apart.
Thanks for any help in this.
