Oil Pressure Sending Unit Wiring Question
I swapped out my stock ECM for the '730 ECM (I have a 1985 IROC).
I noticed that the connector for the oil pressure gauge sending unit is actually part of the old ECM wiring harness. On the old harness is a two-wire connector, one wire feeds to the sending unit and the other unit is green and goes all the way back to the ECM.
On the underhood wiring harness, there is also a two-wire connector with the same color wires. So, I plugged the two connectors together and installed the single wire on the sending unit. My question is, what do I need to do with the other green wire, the one that went all the way back to the ECM on the old setup? Is this even needed? The new ECM wiring harness has a separate connector and oil pressure switch so I'm not sure what the purpose of this one would be. Thanks.
