starter or bad wiring?

okay so my starter sometime grinds my flywheel ... at first it would just make a lilttle extra churping after start but then it would grind until you shut te engine off but this however is totally random ... but today i started the car after two months of sitting (had to jump it ) and no grinding what so ever .... but another strange thing ... if you have the key removed and the car off you can hit the starter and it will try to turn over ... whats my problem here?

Re: starter or bad wiring?

Starter may need shim(s).
Starting without the key-- you need a new ignition switch. Sounds like the current one is broke
