Picked up an 87 firebird used to be a fuel injected 2.8 V6, previous owner did conversion to carbed V8 and 700R4 trans however speedo and tach does not work properly, when I hit the gas it pegs out max & when I stop it goes to 0. After 3 days of research I got under the car, electronic speed sensor in trans with 1 yellow & 1 purple wire, butt connected to the harnesses with same color wires which I traced to the passenger compartemt, pulled passenger panel down, does have the yellow buffer box with yellow & purple hooked up, Looks like a green wire goes to the guage and looks like its never been tampered with, all rest of the wiring appears to be in order...Is the speedo sensor in the trans bad ? or sending the wrong pulse signals compared to the v6 trans ? No idea what year make and model trans it is, only that its a 700r4 & has same color wires at the harness. ANY/ALL help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
