For All Who Have Converted From MAF to MAP.....
I realize there is a write-up here on the forum in regards to doing this swap, but before I get in deep with this, I am looking for any tips, shortcuts or possibly even a better method to achieve this. Also your feelings on the swap and how it has improved (or not) the overall performance and reliability of your ride. Thanks.

Re: For All Who Have Converted From MAF to MAP.....
I did the conversion on my 89 to go with 3 bar map sensor for boost. No direct performance comparison from maf to map but from tuning standpoint with basic mods like heads cam cars i actually like the maf system better. I found it abit less time consuming to tune and gave great results on my 11 sec car. Granted i wished it had extended rpm tables for more accurate custom timing control and wish the maf had abit more range to it as far as sensing capability goes but i liked it and every maf car i tuned
Regarding the swap there really isnt much you can do to change the process. Pins need popped out the connectors and moved to new locations per wiring diagrams posted in the various links and threads here on this site
Some made conversion harnesses to easily swap from maf ecm to map ecm which i think is really cool but some really dont need that flexibility.
Hard part is those pins which pop into thr connectors. Not sure where you source them and they are easy to damage. There is a little tool i used to remove the pins which i dont know what its called or the part number but i can look it up and see if i can find it again. I was lucky to source an ecm and wiring pigtail for the 3rd connector you need to add so i used those pins with wires already attached. Made the job abit easier

Re: For All Who Have Converted From MAF to MAP.....
thanks for the info so far fellas. I was looking into this swap for a little bit more tuning ability and also to get the absolute most amount of air I can get into the throttle body without having to be restricted by the maf. Maybe Im reaching a bit or have the wrong impression about the map setups. So u are saying that there isnt much difference in the performance of you car after the swap? and tuning becomes a little bit more involved? I just want to make sure I read that part correctly.

Re: For All Who Have Converted From MAF to MAP.....
I didnt have a direct comparison with maf vs map on the 383 motor i had.
I did compare tpi air intake box with stock maf but no screens and ram air tubing in the grille to direct high speed/pressure air into the filters versus a custom 3.5" maf and cold air tubing. Maybe my filter was restrictive but the larger maf did not appear to help me and that was a mid 11 sec car. 400 whp
i havent really tuned a tpi based map combo starting from a 350 v8 bin file like i did with my maf 383. My map experience was a turbo v6 bin to twin turbo 6.6l v8 so i found it very labor intensive haha. Theres just more detail in a ve map table than mass air flow tables and the motor seemed very picky on the shape of the ve curves.
This makes it more timing consuming in my opinion and more difficult. But atleast you have abit more accurate fuel control and i think some more room with timing table, or does the map based bins still cap off at 4800 for spark? I thought it did. So no advantage there.
If you have a combo that will likely push the limits of a maf sensor then map is best bet. 400 whp is a good spot to try the change i think.
Other than that i dont see the advantage with map over maf unless you are fighting maf problems and dont want to buy an expensive sensor. Also datalogging the 165 ecm with 6e code is a pita! Sometimes it works sometimes it disconnects and wont reconnect. Speed density shouldnt have those issues

Re: For All Who Have Converted From MAF to MAP.....
My motor should be putting out right about 375-400 at the wheels, but the tune has me doubtful and I didnt know if I was maxing out the limitations of the maf. That was the only reason I was looking to convert. My motor is nearly identical to VincentZ28's camaro down in SoCal. He converted to map and made 392 at the wheels before swapping to a miniram.

Re: For All Who Have Converted From MAF to MAP.....
Maf will max out but you still can add fuel via rpm vs power enrichment. Stout motor like that will peg the meter at wot by 3600-4000 rpm so pe mode takes over. There is nothing wrong with doing this.
However if you are in cali and know vincent and kevin91z (i think) and will have him tune it at dyno dons, go with the map. They will have a good base map if its similar and will pass smog like their cars.

Thank you fellas. I will look more into this swap over the next couple of weeks and decide if its best for the car. Probably will tho.
