Strange hatch release switch wiring
Hi guys. Not an electrical wizard at all, but I am trying to track down a short in the interior lights/door lock/hatch release circuit. Thought I would check the hatch release switch. When I pulled it, it has 2 connectors plugged into it, one dark brown wire, one light brown/white stripe. BUT, there is a yellow wire attached to the brown wire and an orange wire attached to the other. These seem to go to a small relay of some sort under the center console.
I would assume that serves some purpose, but what is making me question it is that the wires that go to the relay are just spliced onto the switch wires and held there with electrical tape. Is this some sort of hack job, or just a Micky Mouse repair job?
Just trying to eliminate the junk in the wiring so I can find the true problem...
