Problem with ignition / key
Problem with ignition / key
I should have just asked you guys for help first. But gave it a shot an tore my car into a couple pieces (haha always)
So here's my dillema. I was with friends about a month ago an we needed to get home as it was freezing outside. So I had my 92 v6 bird out in the parking lot. I've never had problems with my switch till then. Well I went to put my key in the switch an it would not even move it forword. My friend said he probly stepped on my key... so i punched it into the switch an voila it started up. As I put the key in a second time it did the same thing only this time my key looked bent. So long story short i straightened it with a vise avoiding touching the vatts resistor. Put the key in the car it went in much easier (better then orignally) but would still not turn agian in the switch. So what did I do? Tore my cluster panel out an checked all the wiring (all hot), got irrated an just banged on the top of of the switch with a hammer to my key finally came out 30 mins later. so now it turns in the key hole everytime cept it does NOT turn the motor (only electronics such as fuel pump, gauge readings work). Now we replaced the starter an started it from the wires under the car. {it starts an dies right away now}. with these problems said; what's the next best step to take. My friend has the key on the multimeter an said the key doesn't show a reading but im not sure if he even knows how to measure the key... It's my only key. Suggestions?
