"PONTIAC" tail light?
I noticed in a picture I saw on the web the other day, the Pontiac below the key hole in between the tail lights was illuminated when the lights are flipped on. Not sure if mine is supposed to do that or not. I have a '92 Trans Am GTA. Anybody know if it is supposed to be illuminated?

If you mean that the letters were lit up? Then no. It wasn't that way stock. Somebody custom did that to their car.

Shouldn't be too hard. A drill, bulb, socket, some wiring, connectors and a solder gun.
I'd recommend to wire off something like the license plate light or something like that. You'll want a wire that is Run Hot Only and is switched on with the head lights. Else you'll either run the car battery down or the bulb will be on all the time and burn out faster.

I guess it was just from the letters being orange that made it looked like it was lit up, great project idea though.

I have seen people do lighted letters or Firebird but I dunno how they get it done.
Originally the letters or graphic was applied inside the lens & then black over that to the back, so somehow they are stripping off the black & red off the back without damaging the plastic lens. After that? It just a matter of using a black paint to block out what you don't want lighted & a translucent red paint for the letters or graphic then a light source which would be the easy part.

Re: "PONTIAC" tail light?
I'm actually working on this right now in my spare time. I could have sworn I'd seen this before several years ago, but have not been able to find a ready made one anywhere. I have an 89 Firebird with the standard tailights and the finish panel has the flaming bird and Pontiac written underneath. When I'm done, the entire bird and the word Pontiac will light up with the running lights. That's the goal anyway. I've got 3 of these panels to play with, so hopefully I can pull it off.
