fuel float problem

Hello guys I HAVE A 84 Z-28 5.7 liter carb have a problem with fuel guage not reading right . I have replaced the cluster, new board on back of cluster, still after all that wants to read past full no matter how much fuel is in the car. Could the problem be in the tank bad float???? or sensor ??? Please let me know if anyone has a solution to this problem .

thanks

Sender Bender

Here’s how to check the sender:

Remove the sender wire going to the gage.

Connect an ohmmeter between ground and that wire.

A correct reading will be between zero and 90 ohms.

But zero might be a short so have at least a ¼ gallon in the tank so you get some resistance.

Happy Racing!
