I have a 1992 Z28 on the odometer it reads 238,000 has a new engine with 130,000 miles. Will I be able to take the dash apart and adjust the readings on it and not have it look all messed up? I think i've been told before that you can go forward past 999,999 and start over and it would be fine but if you go backward it's bad? Anyway i can cleanly do it? I am a technician (just graduated) so i know stuff about cars... just not everything lol

Honestly......if your asking don't do it or you will jack it all up. if you have any old speedo to practice on first?
I know I will be able to physically do it, i just need to know how
The odometer doesnt measure miles on the engine, it measures miles on the car. This is a silly and stupid reason to change it.
Yes you can, but it not recommended. It will foul up reading on title records. When you go to sell it will be a foul on carfax etc. and its illegal.
My ODO was broke when I bought the car, stripped gear, I got an ODO from another car, set it to current mileage reading. You have to do this on the kitchen table with it all apart. Hard to do in the dash.
