PCM needed for speedo?
I have made the conversion to "non-computer" car and having done my first test drive realized the speedo doesn't work. Any way to have a speedo w/o a PCM on my 89 GTA?thanks

Re: PCM needed for speedo?
The '165 ECM used on TPI cars had the speedo (VSS ) signal going to the dash 1st then to the ECM , so removing the ECM should have no effect on the speedo operation
The '730 ECM used on the 90 -92 cars was the opposite ; the VSS signal to the ECM 1st then to the dash

Re: PCM needed for speedo?
Good info right there. So where do I check power to see what the problem is. It should be known the VATS has been jumped in case that is part of the equation. I had to run a manual temp gage and toggle for the cooling as it all went through the computer I was told. The tach works and the oil and amp gages register so I believe they work.
