I haven't drove my car in two weeks. My car has serious Electrical Problems. The previous owner did a hack job and messed up wires Literally Everywhere.

But any who the main problem(s) I'm having is that there is a short in my ignition / Turn signal switch. My car wont start sometimes unless I wiggle the high beam switch, I forgot to mention that the previous owner also did a hack job wiring up the high/low beam switch along with the interior lights Sometimes it takes 20 minutes just to get the car started.

Another big problem I'm having is that the Rear tail lights wont come on. The head lights come on but the rears wont, the Brake lights work fine but not the tail. I don't know what can cause this I triple checked the fuses, Radio Ground Ect, Also The radio comes on but there is no sound. I'm getting so frustrated I might end up parting it and buying a Mustang (JK JK)
But seriously If I cant get this fix I'm buying a pick up or something please help.

(Edit): The Fans are also wired to my igniton switch and they come on when my key is in the on Position. <--- I want to fix that.

 

sounds like you may be better pulling an un-molested interior harness out of a jy car and swapping it in. It may be a slightly longer process but its straightforward and will save a lot of headaches and guess work.

 

Your chassis harness is the same as one from a V6 car, 90-92 should work fine, but i'd stick with 91/92 if I were sourcing a harness for it, its a bit of a tedious job to do, its best to leave the harness attached to the dashboard and pull it all together after removing the console, carpet, rest of the interior.

 

I was thinking about getting a painless if all else fails, But I don't have a garage or the time / Money to fix it. I might cut my losses If I cant find any better solutions. Right now I'm debating on if I should buy a new steering column and start trouble shooting from there.

 

A "painless" harness would be great if you had a T-bucket, for a thirdgen it will get you nothing more than a lot of wire, and a lot longer install time than pulling an unmodified harness and installing it. No useful gains whatsoever.

 

Hey guys i have a 5.0 rs. I put a engine recently due to a cracked block. Now when i try to cranck her it wont even make a click noise. I checked vats, starter relay switch, safety switch. They all check out good. I also replace battery post cable to da starter. I have 4.8 volts on purple cable goin to the starter. I have voltage goin to the dash. Headlights turn on. No securty light. I tryed jumping it straight from the battery. It crancks but it dont start so im guessing its not pumpin any fuel. I will so appreciate your help..

 

You need to start your own thread seperate from this guys, please include the year of your car, if it was originally V8, things you may have changed, and some pictures of what you've done would also be helpful.

 

Thanks for the Advice, I guess I might just have to bite the Bullet and work on it. I don't want to sell it all it does not need any work except for this electrical problem.

 

What do you think It could be that is Causing my Tail lights and radio to not work? (The radio comes on but no sound) I checked the fuses and radio ground I don't see anything. (Feel free to txt or call me 202-5o5-347o)

 

I am having a problem with my tail lights shorting out and it kills my dash lights as well... i replaced the headlight switch and it stopped until i turned into my driveway and now the fuse blows immediately. i have no clue what it could be! it started about 1 month ago when i replaced my distributor cap... but i dont think that could have caused it. I'm sooo frustrated i cant drive at night at all. I was thinking maybe a bad ground in the dash?? SOMEBODY help please. i took it to a shop(which is very rare for me since ive been workin on cars forever) and they told me to just replace the harness. Im currently in college though and thats really not the most sensible option. Does ANYONE know what could be going on???
