'92 RS can speedo work w/o ECM?

I got a 1992 Camaro RS that was converted to carburetor. ECM was removed and I obviously don't have a functioning speedometer and tachometer. Can something be done to get factory speedometer and tachometer to function? Really don't want to have to fork out the money for an aftermarket gauge setup. Any help welcome!

You screwed something up , the tacho signal comes straight from the coil to the tacho and is not connected to the ECM.
Recheck your tacho wiring

The speedo you will most likely need something similar to this.

http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/7587

Thats the one I would need for my car.

You using the same 700r4 tranny? If so I think your gonna have to do something with the torque converter lockup to if I remember correctly. Since the ECM controls that.

Heres a link to a thread on the Speedo

The tach wire is white, You do not elaborate what the car was originally . Tbi ? 3.1L or what. If it was tbi the vss signal goes to a buffer than to the speedometer and ecm and cruise if equipped. If it was a 3.1l v6 the vss signal would go directly to the ecm and the vss buffer in internal in the ecm. If that is the case you would need to buy a Dakota digital sgi-5 to get the signal to the speedometer.

Thanks for setting me straight on the color its been awhile and couldn't remember. Maybe it was the new tach I put in that had the green wire.
