Check out this C100 connector... Melted?

So I swapped a 98 LS1 into my 92 camaro (was a 5.0 TBI) and I had to do a lot of wiring to hook up the harness. I did the wiring when I was 18 and it was pretty bad so I recently decided to rewire it so a lot of soldering was redone. After I redid it I started having weird issues... Turning the lights on would cut the engine off, the speedo stopped working etc. so I disconnected the c100 connector just to look at it and it looked like this (pic added). I figured all of the soldering heated up the wires and melted the connector. But what I don't get is I never touched any of the body harness stuff and that side of the connector is like that too (can't see it in the picture with the cover still on). Plus theres this sticky grease like material all over everything. Is this normal? or is it melted? Could this be causing my electrical gremlins?

Haha ok thanks guys... I think they applied it that messy more to just freak me out than for any sealant properties. But now my hunt for the cause of electrical gremlins only gets worse
