HATCH RELEASE SWITCH HELP!
So i've been getting very frustrated with this hatch(not to mention that the hatch is out of alignment and i have no clue how to adjust it). First i needed a whole new latch system. Purchased that, works fine. Probed the lines running to the motor, works fine. But when i would probe the lines running to the actual console switch the dome light would come on. i'm so confused by this. now my gut is telling me that it's the switch, and i don't want to buy the factory switch for $80. i'd rather just buy another switch that'll work. if there is one that'll fit and work which one would i need to purchase?

Welcome to site! First off, you are (at least your car is) totally anonymous. Fix that here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...formation.html
Hood alignment help is here: https://www.thirdgen.org/hatchalign
The hatch switch (I only have Camaro experience) has two wires. One is orange and the other is black. Search the forums if you need wiring diagrams.

Thanks for that, sir. And i couldn't figure out how to fix my profile at first. Thanks for the link. And i do have a camaro, and i do have both the orange and black wire connected to a rough draft of a switch but it still doesn't work. do i need a wiring diagram to diagnose this problem?

**EDIT**
the two wires that ran to my hatch switch are definitely not orange and black. they happen to be green and brown. could that be what is wrong?
as far as i know, the console has never been opened up. the two previous owners i know very well and they've not said anything about them opening it up.

Re: HATCH RELEASE SWITCH HELP!
The hatch fuse is 20 amp which shares a circuit with your interior lights and cigarette lighter as well as a few other things. If your dome light is still on, the fuse is still good. On the hump, under the switches, is also a relay. Maybe that's bad? To see a switch, check out a thread I made here:

Re: HATCH RELEASE SWITCH HELP!
the dome light doesn't work usually until i was probing the wires going into the hatch release switch. it would flicker on and off as i would toggle the switch. but the hatch motor has power to it so it couldn't be the fuse(also makes sense why i couldn't find a "hatch" fuse).
it's not to hard to disassemble the switch for cleaning? i'm worried i'd break something in an $80 little piece.
