dash wiring harness swap
dash wiring harness swap
I recently purchased an 84 Berlinetta camaro with a digital dash, unfortunately the cluster didnt work so I proceeded to remove the entire harness, cluster, dash board, column and center console. Those same parts replaced with the ones out of an 82 z28 that was being turned into a race car. I installed all the parts and found myself needing a steering column, I found a column out of an 83 firebird pulled that column and put it in my car. lastnight I thought I had put the final pieces together but apparently I was wrong the car fired up fine and ran like a top, all the gauges seemed to be working as they should be as did the heater blower motor. The power windows rolled up and down fine but the power locks nor the power mirrors work. Also my wipers, my headlights, blinkers, brake lights, and reverse lights do not work, or any of the interior lights. I would really appreciate the help if anyone has any ideas

Re: dash wiring harness swap
Power locks are usually part of the same harness as the power windows so its go to be a ground or something thats a issue there.
Power mirriors are a seperat harness so just check there is power going to them as those 2 harnesses are the same across the board for 82 - 92 cars
wipers , headlights, and so on are a different story. Digital dashes use different harnesses completely from what I found. I would look into getting the rest of the harnesses from the 82 z28 and putting it in as it seems the digital harness doesnt liked to be mixed with other stuff

Re: dash wiring harness swap
okay but pretty much everything plugged right in as far as the headlights and all of my other connectors are concerned. Ive taken my voltmeter and checked my fuse box and I have good voltage at all fuses except for the fuses labeled "crank" "tail" "ctsy wdo" and "inst lps" so it made me curious as to if the engine harness is different too. and also I pulled the headlight switch and I have no voltage there either. its rather discouraging especially since I have little knowledge about electricity and wiring diagrams
