89 bird headlight modules
today both modules quit working, they are stuck in the up position. The lights work, just the modules. I checked all fuses, don't see any blown.
\Any ideas?

You might have missed a fuse in a different location if so equipped.
You might have one here:

If that’s not the problem
Use a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) to probe the headlight module terminal 1A yellow wire, then 1C brown wire, to see if they get power when you turn the headlights on or off.
The headlight module is a rectangular unit about 3" x 4" mounted in a bracket on the left side of the firewall.
It has two connectors.
The prong that sends power to the lamps is the same one that sends power to the door module.

Re: 89 bird headlight modules
tell me how much difference this makes?
if I manually close the headlights, they re-open when I turn the lights on. how likely is it that both motors/drives would go bad at the same time? I have replaced the inner nylon inserts before.

When you turn the headlights off, power is supposed to be removed from terminals 1A yellow wire & 1G
brown wire of the module.
You can measure that to see if that’s occurring.
If it is use a voltmeter across terminals 2C & 2D.
Have a friend turn and off the headlights.
When he does that, does the polarity reverse?
