Butchered wiring?

Hey guys. Got an 87' IROC-Z 305 TPI. Bought it off a guy that had it sittin in a field for 9 years. It'll turn over and I'm gettin spark but i'm not getting fuel(pump isn't even priming). The main question is the wiring. The fella did a hack job on the wiring around where the battery tray is. Alot of wires been cut and spliced, bypassing a connector, some are spliced to differnt wires and some even to multiple wires. My question, is there any fuel system related wiring in that area? Is it common for this area to be reworked on these things? Sorry, it's hard for me to decipher a DC wiring diagram...

While you are visiting the below link, look around; their site has great wiring diagrams as well.

Preciate it man. But I still gotta fix this hacked up wiring by the battery tray. Any idea why someone would have done this? They used wire nuts if that tells ya anything about their capabilities...

Re: Butchered wiring?

Also, are these cars factory with top post or side post batteries?
