Fuel tank wire size
My car has a trap door over the fuel tank ( Don't flame me I can pull the pump and put it back in under an hour). I need to change the lock ring and o-ring on the sending unit. So, I was wondering what the wire sizes were so I can put a connector on top of the tank for the wiring. That way if I have to pull it again I can just disconnect it and pull the whole thing out.
thanx in advance.

I don't know for sure but an 8/10 or 10/12 connecters will probably do it. One thing for sure is you do not want any sparks back in that area. If that does occur you probably will not have to worry about the seal. LOL.
Re: Fuel tank wire size
Stock is 16ga for the pump power/ground. Float is 18ga. Remember you need fuel safe wire in the tank as gasoline will eat normal wire jackets off
Since you are replacing the wiring, an upgrade in size would be wise. 12ga for the pump will support basically any intank aftermarket pump

Re: Fuel tank wire size
I am not replacing the wiring. I am just putting a connector on the stock wiring. I am going to use a Weather Pack connector, or a 4 pin inline cannon plug.
thank you for the replies.
