Firebird - 86 gauge cluster drop into my 83 without changes?

I have the 85mph speedo and a dead odometer in my 83 Firebird.

Just picked up the 140mph cluster from an 87.

I know the tach won't work right as I have a V6 (for now) and it's a V8 cluster, but besides that will it just bolt in and work?

It should, IIRC the 89's and up had an electronic speedo and 88 and down were mechanical, should hook right up.

No.

Your 83 has a cable driven speedo and the 87 used an electric speedo. I'm pretty sure there are several differences between the early / late style clusters too, ( 82-84 & 85+ ) but I don't have those specidfics......

Crap. What year did the electric speedometer start? Did they offer a 140mph cluster with the mechanical drive?

Anyone want to buy a cluster? lol
