85 TA Overhead Console Rear Interior Light Switch Not Working

I put new bulbs in my overhead console and they worked fine.

The map light push button switch turns on and off the map light.

The rear interior push button light switch does not turn off the rear interior light. The light remains on.

Is there:

A. a replacement push button switch available?

B. would I have to grab a push button switch from another console?

C. can the bad push button switch be fixed someway?

Thanks!!

Manta, both doors are closed and the light remains on.

Now even the freaking dome light is staying on also.

I think its related to my bad door jamb switches.

I just pulled the bulbs until I have more time to figure it out and get my new door jamb switches installed. It's great having a pitch black interior.

Doesn't the rear interior light in the console come on and off with the door jamb switch? And doesnt the door jamb switch override the push button switch?

Not sure about the dome light though. Seems that would be independent of the door jamb.

I'm confused (happening more and more these days). There's the map light and dome light. What's not working?

Re: 85 TA Overhead Console Rear Interior Light Switch Not Working

Here's a review:

I removed the console, cleaned it up a bit and bought new bulbs because when I bought the car neither was working from the push button switches.

I got into the car, closed both doors and put the console back in the car, inserted the new bulbs and had immediate light from both front and back lights as soon as I plugged the wire harness in. I tested the push button switches then. The map light (what im calling the dome light) worked properly and turned on and off with the push button.

The rear interior light did NOT turn off with the push button switch. Its staying on no matter how many times I push the button.

However, now the front map light is doing the same. It wont go off using the push button switch.

GRRRRRRRRR. Electrical gremlins, worse than any engine problem.

Is it possible you switched the plugs?or have them reversed?(not familiar with the wires under their)and check and see if the interior light(dimmer Wheel) switch isn't in the on mode.
