no volts to knock sensor...

What up guys,

CAR:1987 Trans Am GTA 5.7 TPI GTA (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...y-swiftly.html)

Having a problem with my knock sensor, I'm getting a code so I went to replace it & when I did I decided to check power to it since I was down there. Turns out I'm not getting ny power to knock sensor KOEO....

According to that thread I should be getting 12 volts to the D connector at the ESC & i'm getting zip! I get 12 @ B with KOEO & a little over 12 at b with Engine on idling. I'm also getting 5V @ E with engine on(idling).

No info on that thread or any that I have looked at as to why I would not be getting power @ D.

Any thoughts on this guys? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: no volts to knock sensor...

Thanks.

Looks like D(brown wire is a ground. So it should not have any power)

I thought B on the terminal (pink/wht stripe) was B7. opps.

I'm getting under 6 on b7 car on & ign on car off. Next step says to disconnect a-b at the ecm, I'm assuming they mean the blk + pink/blk wire, am I correct?

I read that as disconnecting both ECM plugs from the ECM ; takes the ECM out of the equation

Re: no volts to knock sensor...

Did the test this morning.

"check for short to ground in blk wire to ECM term B7. If not open or shorted to ground, ESC conn. or ESC module faulty.

When I checked voltage at B7 to ground with ECM disconnected I got zero volts.

Checking for shorts now....

Re: no volts to knock sensor...

With IGN off & the OHM meter set at 2000k I get 476 ohms resistance, I'm probing from term C to D. C is B7 & D is ground.

With it set on 20k,200k,200 & 2000 I get a 1 (Infinite reading correct?)

Am I correct in assuming that I do not have a short to ground?

& am I doing the test right?

Thanks!

Re: no volts to knock sensor...

Installed a new ESC module, I'll keep updating this problem in my build thread.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction vetteoz.
