Where to hook up temperature sensor wire
I've owned my Trans Am for a whole week now, and have created a long list of things to fix. My current issue is the temp gauge does not show me any temps, which gets me very nervous driving not knowing if my engine is about to melt down. I searched all over this site and did every test. I replaced the fan switch sensor and it's pigtail, and the coolant temp sensor and it's pigtail. The gauge has power and does it's start up test correctly. I just got done tearing apart the entire dash... to the firewall to try and track down the temp wires. The only test that failed was grounding the pigtail and watching the needle spike. Well I finally found the problem, and here comes my question. The original car had a 305. I'm using the original harness. I now have a 383 in it and I found out that there are some left over parts.... THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR WIRE!!!! (not to happy with previous owner) I tested that single green wire and the gauge did what it's suppose to do and shot up high. So I have my sensor wire, but I don't have anywhere to hook it up. Can anyone help me out here? Can I tap into one of the other temp lines or is that a different signal.

It should go to the temp sensor in the head. Does he have a sensor in one of the heads (stock was the pass side head between cylinders 6 & 8)?

It goes to the temp sensor in the head, which is between spark plugs #1 & #3 (front 2 on the driver's side).
If you find anything in the pass side head between #6 & #8 plugs (the same hole in the head casting, just on the other side) it's the fan switch.
