Wiper motor wiring question.

So I've done quite a bit more research and after claiming warranty on my 4th Cardone reman delay wiper motor I decided to look into the car. Now the wiper will not park in the off position. So I did as recommended and unplugged the plug beneath the steering column that hooks up the switch. After I did this the wipers went from a low constant swipe to a high constant swipe. Again this is with no switch at all. I'm not sure exactly what this is telling me.. Could it be the diode on the plug? Or should I be looking for another problem? I've seen how people run a ground wire from motor to firewall, would this do anything??? Please help, this is getting a bit out of hand. Also, it's an 82 so everything works a little differently than the newer cars

For a little more info the pulse used to work on this motor but no longer does, it also used to park, but after a few days it stopped. When I first got it home the sprayers would not work but after tapping the shaft on the motor that moves up and down it began to work. Now they do not work either. I noticed the problem when the sprayers would not shut off and wipers kept going. I pulled the fuse and plugged it back in, then the wipers would not shut off.

Wiper Like A Viper ▬▬▬▬▬ Keep Getting Bitten

As a temporary measure you can use Rain-X, but you want to get the wipers working correctly.

How long do the motor replacements last?

At the next failure, open it up to see if you can detect a discolored or burnt out component.

There might be a way to reduce the current in that circuit.

The first one lasted about 2 months and the ones since then have been 1-5 days. I think the switch went bad, so I got it replaced. I did a little research and I believe they gave me the wrong part (looks like 86 switch, completely diff pin out and no ground to switch.) so I believe this may be my last problem. I'll pop back in tomorrow and let you know

the wiper motor cover has a lot to do with this. the circuit board in it is responsible for the delay part and possibly the park action too.try and find a good used wiper motor cover.also anything A1 cardone sells is from china .that may also be some of your problem(fu%# Chinese parts!)

I agree with you fully, but when I received this last reman, i noticed it had a BRAND new circuit board, not a reman. But if it does not work, I will return it and spend the extra $20 for a Delco
