No power to starter after header swap

Just recently installed a set of long tube headers on the z. After the install I pulled the car in the garage and finished the exhaust install.

Went to fire it up now I get nothing no turn over or anything. I have no power on the purple wire at the starter and at the Safety switch (green / yellow wires). I have checked all fuses I can find inside the car and verified I am not getting a vats security issue. (not the greatest when it comes to electrical work)

After checking the forums I have traced the red wire / purple / grn-wht for the most part but cannot find them once they route behind the engine. Does anyone have some good pictures to show all the check points for the main feed to the inside?

But as it stands power to everything, but no turnover, no vats / security light, power at the battery and I can jump the starter manually without issue so I assume it is something in the red wire to fuse box is all I can figure at this point but just need a good visual of how it routes inside the engine bay and what fuses, relays, etc need checked.

305-TPI

Thanks in advance.

Re: No power to starter after header swap

I'm guessing you may have broken a wire while installing the exhaust. I'd look real hard in the area you were working. You pulled in, car was fine. You finished exhaust install, car won't crank.

How did you jump the starter manually?

Re: No power to starter after header swap

Used a push button starter. Disconnected the purple wire, had the ignition in the on position so the pump would have power then did a jumper from the battery. I've traced it down to the bulk main wires so something got pinched someplace just have to find the short.

Right now everything inside the cab is disconnected from the bay fuse block and I still have continuity between hot and ground on my meter so I've started to disconnect all points to trace it back.

I hope once I have no continuity between ground and hot with my meter I finally found it lol.

Re: No power to starter after header swap

fusable link
Most likely, this...

The big red wires that feed power to the whole car, get it at the starter terminal where the batt cable goes. Each of them has a fusible link to protect the wiring from shorts. One or more of those prolly got damaged in the course of your header install.
