Hey guys. I have an '88 GTA that the previous owner really hacked the taillight harness on. Luckily it was all past the connector. I got real lucky and found an '89 GTA in a junkyard. Grabbed the taillight harness and went to install it, and it turns out it's slightly different where it connects to the rest of the harness. The white plug has identical wires, but the '89 has that black wire. I think it's for the hatch motor, and there's a black wire that runs from the trunk to somewhere else in the harness I'm assuming I can splice it into. My real question is about that other connector on the '88 with the three wires in it... The '89 harness does not have this. Does anybody know what these three wires are for, and if/where I can splice them into the '89 harness? Thanks for any help!

 

Seems as if 1 car had a digital dash - and the other car didn't. ALL harnesses from a Digital Dash car are specific to DD cars.

The 3 wire connector in your pic is for rear light systems check to the DIC in the Digital Dash car.
