Fasten Seatbelt light
So last night I took my car out for a spin and noticed that I had a light on where I have never had one before.
My "Fasten Seatbelt" light is on 24/7 from the time the key is turned. This is the first time in...well, ever, that this light has come on (honestly didn't even know that I had it haha). I latched the seatbelts, turned the car off, turned it back on, unlatched the belts, did everything I could think of to try and make it turn off, but it stayed on.
I'm fine with it being on (as I enjoy driving fast and it seems like a fun little novelty to have on). I just want to make sure I understand what exactly is causing it to be on.
Even though my car is an 83 it has belts from an 86-87 (they were in GREAT shape). The only wires that I'm aware of are the ones that are on the lower retractors. Is it possible that the sensor has just gone bad? I have no ECM (though I don't believe these were ever tied into it to begin with). I haven't smelled anything electrical roasting or noticed anything wrong under the hood or inside the car.
This post was much longer than I intended, long story short is this: is there any not obvious thing that I should check?

Re: Fasten Seatbelt light
I had a look at 1983 body wiring at austinthirdgen , and the light is controlled by the "audio alarm assembly" which is located in the "convenience center" . For whatever reason it seems to have gone defective if it's keeping the light on at all times . The wires connected to the light are a black that goes to ground and a yellow that the assembly feeds +12V when it thinks the light should be on . There are several places the assembly gets it's power from , like the gauges and stop/hazard fuses as well as the inst fuse , are those three fuses all OK ?

Ah! I know of the wires that you're talking about. I can track those easily enough, thanks!
