Just as the title says. My 89 GTA's lights will sometimes not come up. Now its not the motors themselves as they have since been replaced. I think its the switch because when I press on it and wiggle it a bit the lights will come up.

Good chance its the switch, but don't forget to check the headlight module as well.

Re: 89 GTA Trans Am head lights giving me problems.

There is a box on the firewall that operates both motors. This is the Headlight Control Module. There are solder joints in here that break over time. It slides out by pushing it towards the passenger side. It takes quite a bit of force to get it to budge.

For the longest time I had bad bushings in my lights so they didn't pop up, but both of the motors operated. By the time I got around to fixing it, only one motor worked. Found out using a power probe that it wasn't getting juice, and the HCM was shot. Took it apart, re-soldered the broken joints, and my lights work flawlessly now. You can try tapping the box with the headlights on, if one comes up, you know that's your problem.

I never had trouble with mine, well that's not entirely true, but ever since I replaced my switch (because of the lettering), I have the same trouble as you, and mine is aftermarket from classic industries. I have to push it in hard to get them to come up.
