Car: 1984 Trans Am Recaro Edition

Engine: 355 L98 Vortec 226/234 custom cam

Transmission: TKO-600

swapping a Vbelt 1984 alternator to a 1989 Serpentine alternator

Looking at swapping the old 1984 Vbelt to a 1989 serp 105 amp alternator. I noticed that the pigtails are different and the gauge of wire is different as well.

My question(s)

1- Can I just splice the old pigtail off and put a 1989 pigtail on?

2- It looks like a thicker gauge wire that goes to the later alternator, do I need to replace the whole old vbelt 1984 alternator wire with something else?

How do I do that???

There are adapters for that,..... I don't know if this is correct for your exact alternators,... but this gives you an idea what I'm taking about.
