I also have a no start prob car has a push button and works fine that way, but will not start when the key is turned. everything seems to respond the way it should when ya turn the key till u hit the crank and all that happens is the brake light turns on?

Re: thick orange wire

There sounds to possibly be multiple problems that may be in need of addressing one at a time. In regards to the thick orange wire passing by the radio opening... These are a few possibilities that have varied from year and engine/ transmission combination.

A Photo and the gauge of the wire would help.

These are possibilities:

1. Orange 14AWG wire from the STOP/ HAZARD fuse to the convenience center.
2. Orange 12AWG wire from the FP/ INJ II fuse to the C207 connector above the passengers feet hush panel.
3. Orange wire that is not factory installed and would be there from an aftermarket circuit installation/ modification.

Note: There are several other smaller (18AWG and 16AWG) orange wires in that area...

Re: thick orange wire

It supplies fused voltage through the C207 connector and out of the cabin in to the engine compartment via the passenger side fender opening. What gets powered by the FP/ INJ II Fuse varies from year to year and powertrain to powertrain. For the most part the fuse is responsible for Fuel pump/ Fuel Injection related power needs. Usually the electric fuel pump or fuel injectors on the even bank, cooling fan, engine/ fuel control sensors or vehicle data...

Do you know if most of the factory wiring in your car is in tact? I know may of these cars have been modified with aftermarket alarms/ remote starters and much of the original fuel pump and starter related wiring does not operate anymore...
