Is my gas gauge too slow?

I'm trying to determine if my gas gauge is working properly. I've already determined that the sending unit is not correct, as it was ohming out at over 90 ohms on half a tank, but I want to know if my gauge needs fixed as well. Unplugging the fuel pump connector in the rear, it goes up fairly slowly. Shorting the sending wire to ground it takes even longer to get back to empty, especially in the last part of the gauge. I've included a video so you can see what I'm talking about. Is this normal for the gas gauge to be so slow?

Link to the video:
I removed the sound since the door was ajar, and we all know what that buzzer sounds like .

Anyone else have a guage this slow? How quickly do you generally see the gauge rise after you fill up?

I saw your post yesterday and wasn't quite sure how to answer . I do believe that gauge to be defective , as you know it's not supposed to be instant (like an old time voltmeter needle that reacts instantly to voltage change) but that really is slower than slow . If I have an almost empty tank , and fill it up , the needle rises to F one hell of a lot faster than what I saw in your video .

Good to know. Also, is the gauge supposed to return to empty when you turn the car off, or does it stay put so you know how much gas you have even with the car off? Mine stays put where it was while running.

Re: Is my gas gauge too slow?

Say for instance , I have a full tank . When I park , the gauge reads F . I shut the car off and the gauge still reads F . When I go to drive it again , while it's been sitting more than a couple hours , the gauge will have drifted down to somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 . But when I start it , It has climbed back up to full before the seat belt warning buzzer has finished doing it's thing .

PS , I will add that my car does seem to function pretty normally , gas gauge wise . It goes a tiny bit past F when I fill it , and it will run a short while under F before it runs out .
