HELP! Hatch Motor burnt out!

Hey Everyone, I need some serious help confirming if my hatch motor is burnt out or can be fixed. I have checked over multiple threads but have not seen any situation like mine. The Bird has no blown fuses, made sure to look at the ACC and LID fuses and both are fine, and no noticeable problems up under the dash. The relay in the back near the hatch release was hot and the motor for the release was cool, so I went and got a new relay, which suprisingly did not work. Electronics are my weakness and I was hoping anyone with similar problems or experience could give me some feedback on it. Should I get a whole new Hatch motor, housing and slide assembly or would a motor suffice? Appreciate any and All help!

Re: HELP! Hatch Motor burnt out!

I'm not going to play expert here about the trunk pull down , but I think there is also a switch that needs to be checked before you go and proclaim either the motor or relay dead . There is a switch that lets the relay know what position the latch is in , either up or down , so the relay knows which way to run the motor . If it's up , it needs to go down , , If it's down it needs to go up , and it is a combination of both the relay and the switch to make that happen . A search should turn up threads here about the switch and the exact electrical particulars of it's testing and operation , and should help with how to best troubleshoot the circuit.

(mine was welded down before I bought my car , so the pulldown circuit is not one that I have committed to memory)
