82 Trans Am, No Rear Parking lights/Tail lights
Hello everyone and Happy Spring !
I have a 1982 Trans Am that I'm currently stripping out the alarm due to a short. In the process of doing that, I notice that I have no Rear parking lights or Tail Lights when I flip the switch. I recently install a new headlight switch and all the fuses are fine. Bulbs are good as well.I only have reverse lights and brake lights. So I'm wondering if it could be the alarm, since I didn't really strip anything out as of yet, just unplugging the brain of the alarm. Also I only have one headlight that flips open, I recently had refurbish motors installed as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Tail Of The Tail
There is a ground wire from the harness near the hatch motor.
Make sure that’s OK.
If it is, put the lightswitch in the marker lights position.
There is a connector at the left rear of the car which you gain access to by opening the hatch.
Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe the brown wire on both sides of that connector.
If you have no power there, you have a break from that connector to the headlight
switch.

Hi, thank you very much for the reply. I checked, and all signs to point to a break from the connector to the switch, so I was planning on running a new wire. What do you think ? I only have brake Lights,Blinkers,Reverse light, and also Front Parking lights and interior lights. Thanks in advance

Re: Tail Of The Tail
Have you checked the tail light fuse? Another symptom of a blown tail light fuse on a Firebird is that the headlight motors will raise the headlight buckets, but they will not go down.

Hey Lon, the Fuse is good, and only one of the headlights go up and down, I'm not sure whats wrong with the other one. I did put in rebuilt motors and new relays,so I'm not sure. I guess the wire is broken along the driver side, between the switch and main harness ?
