Fuse Box Wires are loose !!!

I just bought a 89 Camaro RS 2.8 and it hasn't been ran in awhile. I was cleaning up the interior and saw 2 wires just hanging near the fuse box. I need to know where it's supposed to be plugged in. Both are skinney , one is solid orange and the other is solid white .

Re: Fuse Box Wires are loose !!!

Those wires used to connect to a small (#194 bulb) courtesy light that was in the underdash panel and lit up the footwell when the interior lights were turned on . If you don't want/need a light there , tape em up good so they won't short and call it done ....

And , welcome to the forum !

Re: Fuse Box Wires are loose !!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm happy I joined, this car needs work and some stuff I just can't figure out alone. Got another question, I also found a connector near the fuse box that is unplugged and another black connector just hanging. Any idea what they do?

This one is very short

This one was right under the steering column.

If you can tell me the exact colors of the wires going to those disconnected plugs , I'll look at the wiring diagram and see if I can help you identify them . I will admit , I've seen most of what's under the dash of my firebird , and I don't recognize either of them . In picture two , it kinda looks like it could be the cruise control connection that would run from the steering column to the dash's harness (running from the switch on the turn signal to the dash wiring) but this is only a guess since I can't too clearly see the connector .

Re: Fuse Box Wires are loose !!!

My 89 is manual so no cruise control. Right? And I will check the colors in the AM. I spent all day cleaning the acorns outta the car and messing with the VATS system. (I hate it) fortunately I read a couple articles here and I bought a vats resistor packet off eBay. The owner before me lost the key and decided to drill out the key cylinder in hopes of it turning over (He wasn't very mechanical savvy). Also have to install a distributor rotor and assembly. It was missing when I bought it. Will need help retiming
