Need help with VATS
Ok. I looked at all the wireing diagrams, checked out the GM servivce manuel for the Pass-Key system, and tried every resistor value from 1-15 within 1% tolerance. Still i get a security light from the '89 Firebird that i'm trying to get running. I know about the 4 min wait between tries, and i've gone throught he list (of resistors) 4 times with no luck. I've also checked every fuse, including the VATS one, and they are all ok. I"m up for any suggestions, and wondering if anyone would know who might be able to reprogram the VATS out of my 5.0L '89 TRANS-AM chip (relativly cheaply.. i'm a student).
PLEASE HELP.. its driving me insane.

well, i don't know if anyone read this, or cares.. but i finally found the actuall vats module. it was really fun too. they put it right between the air ducts and back of the plastic that holds the guages. nice and hard to get to. i still don't know why it won't let me use any of the resistor values, and i checked most of the wires (stopping short of just cutting the tape that bundels it and following it to each connection, maybe tomorrow), and they all look good. i found a company that would remove the VATS from the chip for me, but i'm waiting for them to get back to me with a price. Looking around the forums, i was kinda intimidated to see if anyone in the Chip burning forum would help me (no begging warning and all).
I did get a price on a new Pass-key module from GM: $152.00. I think when i figure this all out, i'm going to have to post this to a web site or something.

Just permamently ground the starter enable relay (down above the brake light switch and near the junction(by your feet)) and the cranking fuel enable that goes to the ECM.
Give me til tomorrow and I'll have locations, wire numbers, and wirecolors on that.

Thanks, i'm trying that right now 1:10pm eastern. The wire colors from the vats system are dark green for the starter and dark blue from vats to ecm for fuel relay. from what i read i thought the fuel relay was a pusled sygnal though.... is that going to mess up my ECM? i dunno... not like i don't have an extra one anyhow.
well, i'll see what happens.
