Radiator fan problems
Radiator fan problems
Okay, I am working on a 88 iroc. I already replaced a fan motor and the pigtail going to it. I thought the relays were bad but I found a bad fuse and that fixed that. My problem now is that when the motor is started and cold both fans come on. I am suspecting either a bad aux fan switch or a faulty ecm. The motor starts right up and runs great.
Any ideas???

Re: Radiator fan problems
I realized last night that I had both green/white wires connected together. I will seperate them and try it again. Am I correct in assuming that the secondary fan will only come on if the primary fan is running?

Not sure about only... I know the 180 fan is turned on by the ecm, the second is in the head i think and is on above 200. There are ppl here who know exactly whats what. I believe "pocket" is very familiar with this. GL
Re: Radiator fan problems
I undid the double wire I had hooked to a switch and now the car runs great, The primary fan kicks on about 190 and brings the temps back down to about 165 ish. I havent had it on the road yet. I replaced the flexplate and then discovered some bad brake lines in the back so I am waiting on parts to fix that.
I also have issues with the dash cluster. The tach, oil pressure, and temp gauges do not work. New sending units have been purchased and will be installed in a couple of days. It's always something
