The "Brain" is out...whats left?
Hello everyone
Im getting further in my build and after reading some other posts i realized that my check engine light will always be on now that i disconnected my ECM from my 85 z28.
I removed the underdash panel and see what looks like a metal case of some sort for were the check engine light is.
Has anyone just removed te bulb?
If so how do i and pics would help.
Appreciate any help thankyou

Brain Responds
The wire to the SES lamp should be a brown wire with a White stripe.
Just make sure that wire is disconnected from power.

If Speed Limits Were Any Lower They Would Be Negative Numbers

Re: Brain Responds
I think I just goofed up my '84 Berlinetta. It has the H code 305. I was having two problems. The TCC was engaging too soon and not disengaging when your foot is off the pedal, only if you touched the brake. Also, the check engine light would come on when decelerating or idling at a stop light. I was going to check the TPS and other data with a live data scan tool. I drove it on the highway with the tool plugged in to look at all the numbers. It communicated with the ECM and everything was fine. When I started it the next day, the check engine light was on constant. It will not go off. The scanner will not communicate with the ECM. Jumping the terminal on the ALDL will not make the light blink. Disconnecting the ECM completely will not make the light go off. I have several ECM / prom spares. None of them change the result. Where the hell do I go from here? Did I fry a wire or pop a fuse?
