Starter literally freezing?
I know there should be nothing to freeze, but everytime i try to start it at 20ish or so, I get nothing at all-no bendix click or anything. I don't think it's the ignition because it will still draw power from the radio, fan, etc. Figured it must be bad solenoid or connection somewhere but this is 2nd time it came back and started at 34+ deg when I haven't gotten around to fiddling with anything. It's a 91 RS that I know needs a lot of crap rewired, body panels redone, etc but I do like driving it on 2-3 mi trips doing stuff around my little nothing town.

They can "freeze", but really, only after they've been in a REAL deep puddle right before. And even then, the heat generated in the windings from the locked-rotor current, thaws em right out.
So I doubt that's a realistic explanation in your case. More likely it's just used up.
Prolly be best to just get a new one.

I was thinking that was the case, probably a dead spot on starter that just happens to come around after sitting a few days. I like driving it, but if I can't trust it and it's going to be a while before I really look at it, probably best I move it to my storage house while it is starting now. Sister and I had to push it up onto curb when thought the plows coming last week....

Cold will affect a battery more than a starter. Sounds like a connection or your battery is breaking down when cold. If your connections are clean and tight then I would have the battery tested. JMO!

Headlights and everything were fine, the first time i was sharing battery and it started suburban fine when swapped over, 2nd time it was a 3 day old batt, but a walmart cheapie. Tried the charger jic, cause the suburban had a bad starter in summer and the extra amperage helped on a fully charged batt sometimes.
Think I'll just have to park it till I can trace and clean all the wires and pull starter for test.
I traded my jeep for it just after thanksgiving cause nobody was buying, and told everybody the guy told me a joke so funny I gave him my jeep for it. The doors are hung wrong, the hatch leaks, wiring is all over, no headliner, broken motor mount....it was fun to drive for a few days but it's gonna need a lot of work to either keep or sell it lol.

Re: Starter literally freezing?
Finally trying to track this down now that warming up a bit. Read a bunch of posts on vats and starter circuit and trying to pick a starting point. I have a vats key, but no security light flashing on dash, though that could just be out.
The relay on the firewall on driver's side is the only thing that seems to engage upon turning the key, wondering if that eliminates vats as a cause or if the starter interrupt for that is still further down the circuit? Never had any injector issues when it did run, so assuming it's a more traditional cause, starter or neutral switch.
