Re: Carbed 350 swap help

U don't need the computer if you are ditching the quadrajet and going that route. IMO the 750 quadrajet you have is plenty for most any street 350.Just keep up with your wiring for gauges, accessories, etc..

Just electric choke? No other electronic connections on carb? If so it's easy enough just keep quadrajet, better gas mileage and as long as its tuned right a great carb, no need to change carbs for one with worse mileage. Run an hei distributor put 12v keyed to that and bam you're good to go. Just got done doing a swap myself, really not that complicated.

And for electric choke just run keyed power to choke and that's it. Going to have to wire up fan also. No biggie

But if it's electronic quadrajet that's different.

Re: Carbed 350 swap help

The choke wiring on the qjet is not a part of the computer harness. There is no reason to re-wire this with a swap.

If removing the computer controlled qjet you'll also have to remove the computer controlled distributor and replace it with a mechanical model. You will also have to install an alternate method of engaging the torque converter.

If your computer controlled system is functioning, or can be brought back to functioning status with minimal effort, there is NO reason to replace it when swapping to a 350. It will run perfectly fine on the 350 with minimal adjustments. The secondaries on the computer controlled carburetor ARE NOT computer controlled but function exactly...but go ahead and rip all that stuff out. for whatever reason.
