Why'd my LED's short?

I've had these LED's installed for 4 years, they're one of the ones that locks onto the 10 radio fuse. Never had issues before in the past, well last night my fuse blew... I was like weird... So I buy new fuses and before I put it in I decide to check the wires out, no damage anywhere... Everything is still tight together minus one spot I decided to redo with cutting off the old wire and stripping it down to fresh stuff just to be safe. Just covering the stripped parts first making sure they're all safe and sound. Made sure the right wires were attached together yadda yadda, I put in the new fuse and try it out... Still not working, LED wires still get hot and smoke came out hmm... What caused this short? Why did it all the sudden just happen when it's been fine for YEARS?

I did notice when I removed them since I'm just going to start over, that the part that was grounded was pretty fried... Did it just not have a solid ground anymore?

Re: Why'd my LED's short?

Probably has something to do with being a POS... unfortunately, all too many of those "low price" "too good to believe" JC Whitney / Harbor Freight kinda things, eventually turn out to be that way.

Return them to their manufacturer under their "limited lifetime warranty" and you'll see what I mean. What that usually means is, once their limited lifetime (limited by their inherent quality and reliability) expires, the warranty does too, at the same instant.

They were just 20 bucks but they lasted me 4 years... I'm afraid that them shorting out might have damaged something else in my car, it shouldn't have right?
