Defroster and Oil Pressure Connection?!?

1987 IROC: Turning on the rear window defroster causes the lights to dim, altimeter to lower AND the oil pressure starts jumping around "like it's on crack" as one poster said. Any ideas why this happens? Nothing else causes this including fog lights, radio, A/C.

Losing Altitude

If you hold the loud pedal so the engine is revving at least 1500, does the problem still happen?

If no, it’s merely the alternator spinning too slowly to keep it turned on.

Happy Racing !
