Hello, I'm having trouble with my 1982 Camaro Z/28 speedometer the problem is, it stopped working. I believe i've narrowed it down to the speedometer itself but i'm not totally sure. I've replaced the gear in the transmission and have even changed the cruise control unit. I have had the speedometer pegged many times while driving. I am wondering if I have striped the head of the speedometer, or perhaps something is bound up in the cable. The car only has a little over 59,000 on it and I would like to keep it as original as I can.

probably just a broken or disengaged cable-you cannot damage the speedo by pegging it-needle is moved by a spinning magnet causing "eddy current "drag on aluminum drum attached to needle.If odometer not turning there is no drive to speedo.
